Have you missed the smell of sweat and smoke in new heavy music? Look no further: the fourth album Brainbanger by Egokills is full of the magic of real people playing good hard rock together – and the smell is indeed there!
”To us it is the essence of a rock band to play together in the same room, amps turned up and drums banging like hell, sweating and shredding. And having a f**ing good time! That’s exactly how Brainbanger came to life”, drummer Vilho Rajala explains.
Brainbanger is an album with rough edges, easily the most metal Egokills has ever been. It was produced by Juha Nevala, who’s been working with Somehow Jo and Huora and gained a lot of attention for making bands sound on record like they actually sound.
The recording took place in the most comfortable Finnish studio, Lammaskallion Audio, which is located at an actual farm.
”It was definitely the right choice to retreat to this countryside studio away from normal life. We were able to focus better than ever before and we had fun”, guitarist Niko Viita-aho says.
In 2024 Egokills became a four-piece after a long time trying to be a five-piece with different line-ups. Already in 2018 when Egokills embarked on their first European tour with Lordi, they did it as a four-piece. This time vocalist and frontman Janne Selo grabbed a guitar.
”When I started playing, I instantly felt about twenty years younger. Then the songs started flowing”, Janne Selo describes.
Brainbanger album is be released by Mellowhead Creations Ltd. The album release show will take place on October 9th 2026 at the intimate and high quality venue Bar Kotelo in Tampere, Finland, the band’s home town. The alternative metal newcomer We Are Still are supporting.
